How to Use quince to make membrillo, jams

Membrillo is the quintessentially Spanish jellied sweetmeat that accompanies a chunk of cheese.

Membrillo

4 pounds quince, washed, peeled, cored, roughly chopped

1 vanilla pod, split

2 strips (1/2 inch by 2 inches each) of lemon zest (only the yellow peel, no white pith)

— Granulated sugar

3 tablespoons fresh-squeezed lemon juice

Place prepared quince pieces in a large saucepan and add water to cover.

Add the vanilla pod and lemon peel and bring to a boil.

Reduce to a simmer, cover, and let cook until the quince pieces are fork tender (30-40 minutes).

Strain the water from the quince pieces. Discard the vanilla pod but keep the lemon peel with the quince.

Purée the quince pieces and lemon strips in a food processor, blender or food mill.

Measure the quince purée in a large measuring cup. Whatever amount of quince purée you have, that’s how much sugar you will need.

So, if you have 4 cups of purée, you’ll need 4 cups of sugar.

Return the quince purée to the large pan. Heat to medium-low. Add the sugar.

Stir with a wooden spoon until the sugar has completely dissolved. Add the lemon juice.

Cook on low heat, stirring occasionally, for 60-90 minutes until the quince paste is very thick and has a deep reddish-pink color. Be careful not to scorch.

Preheat oven to a low 125 degrees. Line an 8x8 baking pan or pie pan with parchment paper (do not use wax paper, it will melt!).

Grease the parchment paper with a thin coating of butter. Pour the cooked quince paste into the pan. Smooth out the top of the paste so it is even.

Place the membrillo paste in the 125 degree oven for an hour or longer to help it dry out to the consistency of firm jelly. Make sure the membrillo has set all the way through. Remove from oven and let cool.

To serve, cut into squares or wedges and present with manchego cheese. Take a small slice of the membrillo and spread it on top of a slice of the cheese.

To store, wrap the membrillo in plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator.

Sean Spicer Breaks Down Crying After 'Dancing with the Stars' Premiere

After his big debut on "Dancing with the Stars," Sean Spicer was reduced to tears— but he didn't cry out of sorrow... Indeed, the man was overjoyed.

We received the former Press Secretary of President Trump sitting in his vehicle outside Cleo in Hollywood on Monday night— soon after he had salsaed his way into a fairly poor rating on the ABC show... Where he saw his dance partner, Lindsay Arnold, wearing a very noisy, neon-green outfit.

Sean was getting roasted online, and when we saw him bawling in his ride -- seemingly looking at a screen -- it looked like he was taking in all of the negativity.

Not so, though!!!!

As it turns out ... Sean tells us he was simply watching a video of his kids watch him from home ... and was just overcome with emotion at the sight of it. Our photog also tried asking a question about his old boss ... but Sean wasn't having it, telling us it was his time to shine.

Thank you @GovMikeHuckabee Clearly the judges aren’t going to be with me. Let’s send a message to #Hollywood that those of us who stand for #Christ won’t be discounted. May God bless you https://t.co/Qqa9xi3pIM

— Sean Spicer (@seanspicer) September 17, 2019 @seanspicer
Sean also got into why he thinks 'DWTS' is the perfect platform to bring people together -- despite their political differences. He's also got a request for America ... watch.

Georgia Kousoulou glows in a very revealing black bikini (Photos)

She is so addicted to displaying her sexy figure.

And TOWIE's Georgia Kousoulou was up to her old tricks once more as she joined her co-stars for filming in Marbella on Tuesday afternoon.

The show stalwart, 28, looked incredible in a sexy black bikini which made the most of her eye-popping cleavage and perky posterior.

Georgia was putting on a show-stopping display as she prepared to shoot scenes in her sizzling ensemble which was suitably glam for the occasion.

Ensuring she was turning heads, she displayed her surgically enhanced cleavage through the tiny bikini top with spaghetti straps.

Taking Instagram, the reality star shared a long post with supporters explaining their reasons for pulling out the show after viewers saw Tuesday night's emotional scenes.

After entering the water for the first time for the challenge, Georgia broke down in tears, seeing stars swimming the English Channel in support of Stand Up To Cancer.

In her article, Georgia bravely showed fans the impacts of her latest anxiety while training for swimming as she went for a series of selfies to make-up free.

Georgia wrote: 'Prob the most honest post I have ever done & prob the worst pics Iv ever posted... I don’t even know how to open up fully as I have got so good at hiding my emotions but I’ll try...

'Being a part of sink or swim has honestly taught me so much & im so thankful for the opportunity, I want to thank my team & the production team @twofourgroup & @channel4 who were AMAZING

'I feel like I've been on a little journey... it just all got a bit to much.. this was my first time in 5 years I realised I needed some Down time!

'The pressure of this massive challenge brought up so many emotions & so much anxiety that I hid and never dealt with over the last few years .. I don’t know why but it did.'

She continued: 'I was determined to not give up and trained for 5/6 weeks as I really didn’t want to let anyone down... my team , the production & the fact it’s for @su2c.

'Every day I would find myself crying, comfort eating & I just didn’t want to leave the house... all I wanted to do was stay at home with monkey. I kept trying to be positive and happy but I literally couldn’t

'Honestly looking back now, I don’t even know who I was... I was in denial thinking I was OK when I wasn’t! Sometimes you have to be honest with yourself & sometimes you have to put yourself first even if it’s scary!..

'now I am so glad I did as I’m in such a clearer mind space... my thinking is so different & I'm now speaking to my beautiful Counciller weekly!

'My advice to anyone is... you can fake a smile for only so long but BE HONEST with yourself & please talk about your feelings .. don’t bottle them up & wait until you burst!

'It’s OK to admit your not OK. We are all human and all go through things in life. Thank you to my @tommy_mallet & My family for being there. I’m so grateful.'
