The University of Benin, Ugbowo campus on Saturday was thrown into chaos as news filtered in of a young lady (names withheld) said to have attempted suicide.

UNIBEN student attempts suicide by taking sniper

Sources said the girl, a final year student of the department of accountancy and an inhabitant of the hall-one hostel, took the deadly sniper but was immediately rushed to the hospital when her action was discovered.

It is unclear whether her suicide attempt is as a result of heartbreak.

“the girl took sniper but she was very lucky that people took notice very early and she has been rushed to the University of Benin teaching hospital, UBTH, where she has been placed on oxygen for treatment. But we really do not know what the result will be. ‘Na sniper dey reign na o’,” the source said.

How to Cut Calories For Weight Loss

Determining how many calories to cut for weight loss becomes more of an art than a science, as there are many variables that can impact the calories in < calories out equation, including:

How to Cut Calories For Weight Loss

1. The type of exercise you are doing.

Resistance and interval training will burn more calories after you stop exercising compared to traditional aerobic training. (Here's your guide on the best workout tips and exercises to lose weight.)

2. The type of diet you are eating.

High-protein diets burn more calories, as protein takes more effort for your body to digest and metabolize. (There's a reason eating a high-protein diet is one of the 10 science-backed diet rules for weight loss.)

3. How much weight you have to lose.

For simplicity's sake, I had you use total body weight instead of your lean body mass (which is your total body weight minus your body fat). Because of this assumption, if you need to lose 25 pounds or more to reach your goal weight, then your total caloric needs, which we calculated above, is probably too high. This is because we treated the calorie needs of body fat the same as lean tissue (muscles, bones, and organs), but in reality, your body fat has a much lower caloric need (close to zero). I explain how to adjust for this below. (There's a lot of confusion about dieting out there. Be sure you're not falling for any of the top nine most popular weight-loss myths.)

4. Your individual metabolism.

The Harris-Benedict equation or any equation that estimates your calorie needs is just that: an estimate. These equations are based on averages, and you are probably not average. Don't take the numbers you generate after reading this article as gospel, but use them as a starting point, put them to the test, and adjust from there.

Traditionally, recommendations are made for individuals to subtract 500-1000 calories from their total calorie needs in order to lose 1 to 2 pounds per week. This is because a 500-calorie daily deficit yields a 3500-calorie weekly deficit-which is the number of calories you need to burn to lose one pound of fat. However, I find that these reductions are too aggressive initially and that cutting too many calories too soon sets you up for long-term weight-loss failure.

If you are weight training (try these strength training tips for weight loss), doing interval cardio sessions during the week, and eating a carb-controlled/moderate-protein diet, then I recommend that you only subtract 250 calories from your total calorie needs (or 500 calories if you need to lose more than 25 pounds to reach your goal weight). You'll see results that make you happy while being able to eat more. Using our example, the woman would need to eat 1900 calories per day to lose weight. (The right foods can help you slip into your skinny jeans faster. Eat these three snacks to conquer hunger and win at weight loss.)

The final step: Put it to the test! At the end of two weeks, see how much weight you have lost. If you aren't losing at a rate that makes you happy, opt to do more activity before you cut out more calories. If you need to cut out more calories, remove another 250 and put that new calorie level to the test for two weeks.
Most importantly, keep in mind that the scale isn't everything. One of the best ways to make a health transformation last is to value non-scale victories too. Are your healthy new habits giving you more energy or better digestion? Are you sleeping more soundly? Do your clothes fit better and do you feel more confident? These perks will help motivate you to continue eating well and staying active for the long run-which means you won't just lose weight, but you'll also keep it off.

Sola Allison Speaks on how she was sexually molested by several men, blames mother - Read Her Story

Gospel singer, Sola Allison has recounted how she was sexually molested by different men while she was in her primary school. Sola who is also speaking out after Busola Dakolo’s explosive interview is partially blaming her more for hers! Taking to Instagram to express she is yet to completely heal.

Sola Allison Speaks on how she was sexually molested by several men, blames mother - Read Her Story

Sola wrote;

''I was at my Mother's today... There had been issues, since my childhood. But that story, for another time... So, I was asking her questions, out of pain.. Then, this conversation below took place:

Me: "Do you know that your cousin, when you left me at shdgrigofn, molested me?" I was in primary school. Over 30 years ago... I remember everything clearly... I was confused. What would I say? How would I say it?

Her: Eyes wide!

Me: "Do you know that Mr. Thshdudidj nearly raped me? The one that used to come to your shop..." Her: Eyes wider, mouth agape, "why didn't you tell me?" Me: "Tell you? How? When there was no connection and it showed you didn't like me? Kò possible nao!" Me: "That man that used to come and take beer and peppersoup in your shop, after I served him one day, brought out his penis that I should play with." I was like 14-15. I ran away from the shop. You didn't bother to ask why, you only punished me by depriving me of food for days because, "that's where you get money from." Her: No words

Me: "Do you remember that time when...." And so on

Her: No words, looking what-do-I-say kind of. I love her!
We talked about other things... I felt a lot better. The anger I'd been feeling for days subsided... I'm still healing. I was abused a lot. Different ways at different stages. I almost got used to it. I am still healing. Because I SPEAK! It hurts but I SPEAK!

This is my story. This is my song. Told in this way I choose. Sung in this form I deem fit. But I SPEAK! For the sake of my kind, who have been made "sick" by abuse of all sorts. Not for you? Please move on. I'm not begging for "fanhood"! It is not only for Busola's sake that we are doing this. It is for our women, our daughters, our sons, our future! She murdered her privacy to SPEAK. She risked it all... Yes, I believe her. You won't listen to my music again? If it is because of this, it's ok. I wish you well. But you will be replaced by millions others from here, from distant shores and islands! Where I'm going is far. Everything in Creation backs me up as I stand and SPEAK for the TRUTH, only.

SPEAK, Child, therefrom your healing begins!''

CAN to meet PFN leadership over Fatoyinbo’s alleged rape case

CAN to meet PFN leadership over Fatoyinbo’s alleged rape case

The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria says it has reached out to the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria over the allegations of rape levelled against the Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, Pastor Abiodun Fatoyinbo.

The Special Assistant, Media and Communications to the CAN President, Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, said this in a statement on Saturday.

Fatoyinbo had been accused of rape by Busola Dakolo, wife of musician, Timi Dakolo.

Some other alleged victims have also come forward, accusing the pastor of rape, an allegation Fatoyinbo has denied.

However, CAN said it would get to the root of the matter.

The statement read in part,

“The Christian Association of Nigeria as a body, condemns any case of rape in strong terms, it doesn’t matter who is involved.

“It is ungodly, wicked, and reprehensible. However, on the allegations against Pastor Abiodun Fatoyinbo, we have no details about the matter other than what we are reading on the social media, this is not reliable and credible evidence enough to jump into a conclusion.

“The CAN Leadership, therefore, has reached out to the leadership of the block which the Pastor in question belongs with a view to getting to the root of the matter. This will help us to make the right decision on the issue.”

The 50-year-old woman and her young daughter killed over witchcraft allegation

An Indian mother and daughter were hacked to death by three men over allegations of witchcraft in the country’s remote tribal-dominated east, police said Saturday.
The 50-year-old woman and her young daughter killed over witchcraft allegation

The 50-year-old woman and her young daughter were beaten by their neighbours before being attacked with knives on Wednesday night in West Singhbhum district in Jharkhand state.

Police said the victims’ family was embroiled in a land dispute with one of the accused, who used black magic allegations as a cover-up to commit the crime.

“One of the accused told the villagers that the women were witches and responsible for deaths and diseases in the village. They attacked the women in the night and killed them brutally,” district police chief Indrajit Mahatha told AFP.

The woman’s husband filed a complaint against the accused who are on the run, he said.

More than 2,000 people — many of them women — were killed in India on suspicion of witchcraft between 2000 and 2012, according to the National Crime Records Bureau.

Some states, including Jharkhand, have introduced special laws to try to curb crimes against people accused of witchcraft and superstition.

Experts say belief in witchcraft and the occult remains widespread in impoverished rural communities across India. There are also occasional reports of human sacrifices.

Earlier this month police in northeastern Assam state said they suspected a case of human sacrifice after finding the headless body of a woman near a Hindu temple.

Topic: Preparing for Divine Communion (Open Heaven 27 June 2019)

Memorise: “But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.”- 1 Corinthians 11:28

Read: 1 Corinthians 11:27-30 (KJV)

27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

Bible in One Year: Deuteronomy 1, Ezekiel 5:5-17

Open Heaven 27 June 2019 Thursday MESSAGE:
The Lord’s Supper, also known as the Last Supper, refers to the very last meal our Lord took before He was crucified on the cross of Calvary. This very important and mysterious meal also referred to as the Holy Communion is a multi-dimensional meal with diverse implication. The Lord’s Supper is interconnected with the Jewish Passover in a special way because Christ is the Passover Lamb that was sacrificed for us (1 Corinthians 5:7). This special meal therefore brings to remembrance the Lord’s suffering and sacrificial death and represents the establishment of a new covenant for humanity in the Blood of Jesus. It also points us to Calvary, the place of Jesus’ suffering, crucifixion and death. Consequently, a certain level of sober reflection is expected when we celebrate the Holy Communion. By partaking in the Lord’s Supper, we also depict the coming marriage supper of the Lamb in heaven (Revelation 19:1-9). This adds a forward-looking dimension to this holy meal, so that it is not viewed simply as a memorial of past events alone. Essentially, the Holy Communion is not just a routine practice; it a celebration in faith, as we continue to hope and sing “Maranatha – Come, Lord Jesus!”

Before celebrating communion as a memorial, there must be a clear understanding of and strict compliance with God’s instructions as it relates to the Holy Communion. It is most holy and meant for sanctified members of the family of God only. Anyone who is unclean or who is a stranger to the household of faith cannot partake of it. It is a most powerful meal that brings healing and deliverance from all kinds of bondage, but at the same time, it poses danger to anyone who partakes of it unworthily. Therefore, the importance of adequate preparation for divine communion cannot be overemphasized. The Holy Spirit cautions in 1 Corinthians 11:27 that whosoever eats the Holy Communion unworthily shall be guilty of profaning and sinning against the Body and Blood of Jesus. He then compels us to carefully examine our spiritual state and current standing with God, to deal with any sins we haven’t confessed yet and repair any broken relationship with God and man, before partaking of this meal. He warns that the Holy Communion should not be taken lightly, specifying that those who partake of it unworthily do so at the risk of eternal damnation. In 1 Corinthians 11:30, He reveals the bombshell that many in the Church are sickly and some have even died because they were ignorant of the power embedded in the Holy Communion and handled it carelessly. I pray that every time you take the Holy Communion, the power of death will be destroyed over you and the divine life of God will flow into your body, soul and spirit in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 27 June 2019 Thursday Hymn 4: Take My Life, And Let It Be
1 Take my life and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in endless praise,
Let them flow in endless praise

2 Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee,
Swift and beautiful for Thee.

3 Take my voice and let me sing,
Always, only for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee,
Filled with messages from Thee.

4 Take my silver and my gold,
Not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
Every pow’r as Thou shalt choose,
Every pow’r as Thou shalt choose.

5 Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own,
It shall be Thy royal throne,
It shall be Thy royal throne.

6 Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee,
Ever, only, all for Thee.

7 Things that will Happen When You Have Got A Strong Woman In Your Life

They may get a great deal of fire all the time in light of the way that they're so solid, furious, and autonomous. They are frequently observed as extremely scaring ladies whose guidelines are outlandish. They are frequently seen as inaccessible and unwelcoming of other individuals. Be that as it may, those are plainly some unjustifiable confusions that many individuals will, in general, accept about tough ladies.

In all actuality, they aren't generally as unwelcoming, inaccessible, or unlikeable as the vast majority think. She isn't the sort of lady who might upstart you for being a sure way. Or maybe, she's a young lady who might dependably push and urge you to be better.

7 Things That Occurs When You Have A Strong Woman In Your Life

A strong woman is someone who is only going to want to add more value and stock to your life. Of course, at first, she’s going to come off as someone who is incredibly difficult to be around. She’s going to be the kind of girl who you feel like is never going to offer you acceptance. But you shouldn’t buy into the whole adage about first impressions lasting. In fact, with a woman like her, it’s likely that she’s going to be far from the first impression that you have of her.

With a strong woman like her, you really have to be patient enough to wait for her to open up to you. You have to be patient and persistent enough to get to her core. Underneath the hard shell of her physical exterior is someone with a heart of gold. And if you let her, she’s going to bring a lot of positivity and happiness into your life. But if you’re still curious as to what it would be like to have a woman like her in your life, then read on until the very end of this article.

1. A strong woman is going to make you realize your greatest strengths and worst weaknesses.

She is always going to provide you with everything that you need to hear, and not just the things that you want to hear. She’s going to keep it real with you every single time. And even though the truth may hurt, she knows that you need to hear it from her.

2. A strong woman is always going to treat you with respect.

She is always going to treat you with respect and dignity. She is a strong woman who is never going to be tolerant of the disrespect of other people. And that means that she also knows that it is only proper that she treats other people with the utmost respect as well.

3. A strong woman will always push you to be your best.

She is constantly going to push for you to be your best self. And she does so in indirect ways as well. Her mere presence is going to be enough to inspire you to want to be better. You are going to feel motivated to be more worthy of being attached to a girl like her.

4. A strong woman is going to motivate you through your goals.

She is never one who is going to settle for mediocrity. And that’s why she’s always going to push you to pursue your goals and dreams. She is never one who would make you compromise your dreams for anything else in life. She is always going to want to motivate you to find success in life the best way you can.

5. A strong woman can help weather the storm for you.

A strong woman is going to help you through whatever challenges you might end up having to face in your life. She’s going to make you feel safe even though there’s a lot of chaos going on around you. She’s going to give you that fallback that you might need. You know that you can count on her to help you through your troubles and worries.

6. A strong woman will love you without restraint.

She is the kind of girl who isn’t going to be shy about showing or manifesting her love for you. She is always going to love you without any restraint or hesitation. She would never make it seem like she’s hiding her feelings. She is always going to wear her heart on her sleeve for you so that you would never have to doubt her love.

7. A strong woman adds value to your life.

At the end of the day, you just know that your life is a lot better now just because you have this woman in it. You know that her mere presence in your life is an indication that you are doing things right and that you are on the right path. A strong woman like her gives you the reassurance that you need to know that your life means something.

10 Reasons Single Mothers may be better wives than a Single lady; Take Good Note Of Number 7

it's so sad that men in Africa, especially Nigeria overlook dating or getting married to single mothers. I once heard a man say “single mothers” are burdens & are only good for s*x. This is a Grand misconception.

10 Reasons Single Mothers may be better wives than a Single lady; Take Good Note Of Number 7

Reasons why singles mothers may be better wives than a single lady:

1. She is more mature: Having a child forces a woman to grow faster & assume more responsibilities. She tends to have her priorities straight.

2. She knows what to do with money: A Lady with no child tends to spend her money on clubs, drinks, hair, skincare. A single mother is more financially prudent with money.

3. She has a bigger vision: A lot of single ladies don’t know what they want in life yet, they haven’t figured out their Self Actualized state but single mothers have a plan that can fit 5 people

4. She knows what kind of man she wants: Because she already has a running family unit on her own. She knows the perfect fit for a husband. A lot of single ladies don’t know the type of man they want. All their sure of is that the man must have money.

5. She tends to be more spiritual: Because of the stigma and challenges single mothers face. They are often more religious than single ladies. They will pray for you more.

6. Her strength is tested: Mothers shoulder a lot from carrying pregnancy to raising a child. Dating a single mother guarantees an amazon at your side. She will support you and love you. .
.
7. She appreciates the value of a real man: Most likely she’s a single mother because things didn’t work out in her previous relationship. Due to her mistakes or Exs mistakes. She will appreciate a second chance at love.

8. S*xual Skills: Single mothers know how to take care of a man s*xually. They know all the G sp*ts in men from the n*pples, neck, p*rineum.

9. She will challenge you: Dating a lady who already has a functioning family unit will give you as a man a new perspective in life. You will become more homely & invest more.

10.  Her children will melt your heart & motivate you to become a father early

Memorise: “Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.”- John 15:2

Read: Luke 13:6-9 (KJV)

6 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.

7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?

8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:

9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

Bible in One Year: Numbers 34-36, Ezekiel 4:4-5:4

Open Heaven 26 June 2019 Wednesday MESSAGE:

“Be fruitful” is the very first statement God made to mankind. This statement was pronounced both as a blessing and command. It is therefore obvious that fruitfulness is the heartbeat and overriding objective of the Almighty God for mankind. Out of His abundant love, God conferred fruitfulness as an irreversible blessing on mankind so that every human being is empowered to bear fruit effortlessly. He also made it a commandment so that everyone, without exception, must bear fruit. Fruitfulness is so important that Jesus in John 15:8 said that the Father is glorified when we bear much fruit, and by bearing much fruit, we demonstrate that we are His disciples indeed. Consequently, God reacts to fruitlessness the same way He reacts to rebellion, because failure to bear fruit is actually rebellion against the commandment and purpose of God for mankind (Luke 3:9, Matthew 21:19).

The question is, are you bearing fruit? What type of fruit are you producing? If you have not yet given your life to Christ, God expects you to first bear the fruit of repentance (Matthew 3:8). For those who are saved, God expects us to bear the fruit of the Spirit and produce the fruit of souls won into His kingdom (Ephesians 5:8-9, Matthew 28:18-20).

Our Lord Jesus Christ gave the disciples many Parable, including the Parable of Talents to teach them the importance of faithfulness in stewardship. In that parable, all the servants put their talents to profitable use. Except the servant to whom was entrusted one talent (Matthew 25:14-30). This servant went and dug the ground to hide his lord’s money where it lay fallow. When his lord returned and all servants rendered account of their stewardship, he was seriously reprimanded for his lack of productivity. His talent was taken away from him and given as bonus to another servant. In like manner, the Lord expects every one of His children to diligently put their talents and gifts into profitable use for the advancement of His kingdom. We are to do the works of Christ, of which spreading the gospel and soul-winning is paramount.

If we fail to be fruitful or productive, we may be guilty of receiving the grace of God in vain, thereby becoming unprofitable servants. I pray that you will never be considered an unprofitable servant in Jesus’ Name. God is keenly looking out for our fruits, expecting us to bear fruit spiritually, physically, financially and materially. He will judge our individual and corporate performance by the quality and quantity of fruit we bear. May you bear fruits that abound and remain, in Jesus’ Name.

1 Deeper, deeper in the love of Jesus
Daily let me go;
Higher, higher in the school of wisdom,
More of grace to know.

Chorus:

And higher every day,
And wiser, blessed Lord,
In Thy precious, holy Word.

2 Deeper, deeper, blessed Holy Spirit,
Take me deeper still,
Till my life is wholly lost in Jesus,

Deeper let me go!
Rooted in the holy love of Jesus,
Let me fruitful grow.

Memorise: “After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.”- Acts 19:21

Read: Act 21:10-15 (KJV)

10 And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.

11 And when he was come unto us, he took Paul’s girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.

12 And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.

13 Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

14 And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.

15 And after those days we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem.

Bible in One Year: Numbers 32-33, Ezekiel 3:16-4:3

Open Heaven 25 June 2019 Tuesday MESSAGE:

To be determined is to be singled-minded. it also means having firmness of purpose or being resolute to achieve success in any assignment committed into one’s hands. Determination is essential for anyone to succeed and be effective in life and ministry. God is looking for men and women who are faithful and determined stewards to commit special assignment to. Indeed, 2 Chronicles 16:9 says that the eyes of the Lord run to and fro the whole earth in search of determined people. It was in the process of this search that He found David (Psalm 89:20). When God searches a person out and commits an assignment into his or her hands, such a person must realize that stewardship is trust that must not be abused, and all stewards of God’s resources will give account of their service to God. As a faithful and dedicated worker in God’s vineyard, you have to be focused on your own mandate and never use another man’s parameters to evaluate your life (2 Corinthians 10:12). To be focused is to have a target and work towards actualizing it to the glory of the Almighty, keeping in mind that the business of God’s kingdom requires haste. In John 9:4, the Lord says:

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”

To be commended by the Lord on His return, you must do His work heartily and cheerfully. It is my earnest prayer that as you devote all available energy and resources to the assignment committed into your hands, the Lord himself will prosper your determination in Jesus’ Name.

Determination is reflected in the lives of the heroes of faith. Noah showed determination in building the ark and carrying out all of God’s instructions to specification. Abraham displayed determination by obeying God to the letter. Moses showed determination in leading the Israelites out of Egypt and effectively communicating the will of God to them, and Nehemiah the builder was determined to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, even under hostile conditions. Sarah, David, Daniel, Esther and the prophets were all dedicated vessels of God who left legacies which endure even today. Above all, Jesus Christ displayed uncommon determination and steadfastness, not only to come to this world but also to go to Jerusalem to die for our sin (Luke 9:51). Determination is a virtue that is highly rewarding. The Bible says that God rewards those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). All the heroes of faith were greatly rewarded during their lifetime, and God gave them everlasting peace and joy in heaven. As you strive with determination in all your assignments, God will crown your efforts with resounding success, in Jesus’ Name.

1 Ho, my comrades, see the signal, waving in the sky!
Reinforcements now appearing, victory is nigh.

Chorus:
“Hold the fort, for I am coming,” Jesus signals still;
Wave the answer back to Heaven, “By Thy grace we will.”

2 See the mighty host advancing, Satan leading on;
Mighty ones around us falling, courage almost gone!

3 See the glorious banner waving! Hear the trumpet blow!
In our Leader’s Name we triumph over every foe.

4 Fierce and long the battle rages, but our help is near;
Onward comes our great Commander, cheer, my comrades, cheer!

Memorise: “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”- 1 John 3:16

Read: 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 (KJV)

19 For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.

20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;

21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.

22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.

23 And this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

Bible in One Year: Numbers 30-31, Ezekiel 2:8-3:15

Open Heaven 24 June 2019 Monday MESSAGE:

Mercy is a concrete expression of compassion and love. It means to have pity or to feel concern out of sympathy for someone. Mercy is part of God’s core nature, and it defines that character in Him by which He faithfully keeps His covenant, fulfils His promises, and maintains His relationship with His children, despite our shortcomings, unworthiness and unfaithfulness (Exodus 34:6-7). This is very well explained in Romans 9:15-16, which says:

“15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.”

Mercy connotes lovingkindness, goodness, grace, favor and steadfast love. The most prominent aspect of mercy is the compassionate disposition to forgive an offender, coupled with finding a way to help the offender out of his or her sorry situation. These qualities make it possible to lovingly correct fellow Christians who fall into error, instead of passing hostile judgement on them. Here is how the Holy Spirit commands us to deal with each other in Ephesians 4:2-3:

“2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

Furthermore, while identifying the qualities that the Body of Christ must have, mercy and kindness are prominent on that list. He says in Colossians 3:12:

“Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;”

God designed mercy to be an essential part of the Christian community, because it reveals the state of our heart. It is an intense inner feeling that usually manifests itself as compassionate acts of love and kindness. We are recipients of God’s mercy through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and we live our lives in daily anticipation of new mercies from God. The consistent new outpouring of God’s mercy is the seal of God’s love for His children (Lamentations 3:22-23). In response to past, present and future gifts of God’s mercy, we also must be channels of divine mercy both within the Church and out there in the world (Jude 1:21-22). The Bible teaches us to take up the responsibility of showing mercy through the help ministry and assisting the less privileged (1 Corinthians 12:28). Charitable giving is a proper response to God’s mercy and a mark of genuine spirituality. I pray that you will be a candidate for God’s mercy and a dispenser of it, in Jesus’ Name.

Father, let Your nature of mercy find expression through me to others, in Jesus’ Name.

Lady locked In Kirikiri because she “opened An Account” (photo)

According to Flemer Project Initiative (@the_flemer), an initiative which offers “free legal services to indigent awaiting trial detainees in Nigeria”, Godday, who sells fish and raincoats at Bar Beach and allegedly suffers from a communication deliquency had opened an account with an undisclosed bank and deposited over a million naira.

When she went to collect some money, she had “issues with disparity between her names with the bank and her real name” causing them to request that she gets an affidavit and that is where her problem began.

Woman Jailed In Kirikiri For “opening An Account” (photo)

Read the complete story below

“Late December 2018, Rosemary Godday, was sent to jail for owning a Bank Account. If you think this Sounds ridiculous, then you better go ahead to read the full story.

Before her arrest and consequent incarceration last December, Rosemary was a trader or better put, a hustler. She worked on the bar-beach as a fish seller, barbecue vendor, raincoats seller amongst other petty businesses that fetched her daily income.

While doing her business, she had a number of Bank Accounts, but was depositing the bulk of her money in a personal savings Account with a Commercial Bank that we’d rather not mention at the moment.

Last year, she had issues with disparity between her names with the bank and her real name e.g Roseline instead of Rosemary. So she went ahead to swear an affidavit to that effect.

Surprisingly, when she returned to the Bank with the sworn Affidavit, the bank refused to acknowledge her as the owner of the Account. This was done despite the fact that her signature matched the one on other official documents relating to the Bank Account in question.

The Bank not only denied her access to her Account, but in fact went ahead to arrest her for ‘fraud’ and forgery.

It didn’t take long for Rosemary to realize that all the money in her Account had vanished into thin air. Yes, someone had emptied her Account. According to her, the money in question was at least a million Naira (she strongly believes it’s actually much more).

This was how Rosemary found herself in police detention. She was eventually charged for forgery and stealing and has been in prison custody since December 2018.

We met Rosemary at Kirikiri female Prison during our visit in May and decided to take on her case.

Today was the second time we would be appearing in court as her legal Counsel. During our first appearance in court, the prosecution counsel failed to produce his complainant and the IPO/Witnesses.

Today, the Prosecution Counsel who apparently had no case against this lady, wanted to get another adjournment as neither the complainant nor any of the supposed witnesses appeared in court again. The Legal Counsel from FLEMER representing Rosemary wasn’t having any of this today

She instead requested for the magistrate to strike out the case, seeing that the prosecution was obviously not ready to proceed with the case and it will amount to injustice for the young lady to be sent back to jail. The magistrate obliged and went ahead to strike out the case.

Right now, Rosemary is a free woman, but she is still heartbroken as she has lost her life’s savings, has been unjustly incarcerated for owning a Bank Account and has to start all over again.

While we explore legal avenues to help her get justice over her missing funds, Rosemary still needs all the help she can get from the public.

Note: many of the details of this story are missing because the woman in question has some communication delinquency, which makes it difficult for her to communicate except the listener is really patient and understanding. We strongly believe this medical condition must have made it easier for her to be framed and unjustly left to rot in jail. Sigh ”

At the time of filing this report, Flemer Project Initiative is yet to respond to Guardian Life’s request for more information.

We will soon chase ‘bad’ Fulani herders out of Yoruba land – Ooni of Ife

Speaking at his palace on Wednesday, Mr Ogunwusi while hosting the Emir of Borgu, Muhammed Dantoro, (Kitoro IV) said the recent attacks are ‘alien’.

According to a release made available to journalists by his spokesperson, Moses Olafare, the monarch said: “We keep hammering on the Fulani herdsmen trying to take over everywhere, it is the bad ones that we want to kick out and enough is enough, we will kick them and do justice to the peace and peaceful coexistence in our country.”

The monarch said it is time to “separate the corn (wheat) from the shaft (chaff)”.

“We want our country to be prosperous in peaceful coexistence, we do not want people to live in fear and that is the reason why we are trying to connect to one another as traditional rulers to find lasting solution to these of criminality.

“Everybody is saying they are Fulani herdsmen now, kidnapping everywhere. Enough of that! We must separate the corn from the shaft putting behind the past and letting peace reign in our land and in our country and that is what we stand for. We must join together to end this criminality being perpetrated by enemies of Nigeria with ungodly spirit irrespective of their tribes.”

In his reaction, the Emir of Borgu, said he will support Ooni’s plan “for the betterment of the people”.

“We will definitely work together for the betterment of our people. Borgu is a mini Nigeria because it is one of the few places in the country where you can find all tribes coexisting peacefully.”

Seeds of Destiny 21 June 2019 Devotional – The Enemies of Great Destiny

Topic: The Enemies of Great Destiny [Seeds of Destiny 21 June 2019 Devotional]

Seeds of Destiny 21 June 2019 Devotional – The Enemies of Great Destiny

What you don’t understand, you cannot confront or conquer; what cannot be identified cannot be rectified; what is not defined cannot be refined.

SCRIPTURE: Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power: Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch. Genesis 49:3-4.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: It is one thing to have great potential but it is another thing entirely to have great destiny.

In life, experiences have always shown that having a great potential does not necessarily translate into having a great destiny automatically. It is one thing to have great potentials but it is another thing entirely to have a great destiny.

Now, one reason why great potentials do not automatically translate into great destinies is because of the existence of enemies of destiny. It is very important to understand these enemies because what you don’t understand, you cannot confront or conquer; what cannot be identified cannot be rectified; what is not defined cannot be refined.

Now, what are the enemies of great destiny?

i) Iniquity: Sin corrupts destiny.

ii) Indecision: This is inability to make up one’s mind. A person who cannot make up his mind cannot amount to anything on earth.

iii) Indiscipline: Discipline undergirds distinction and destiny. Discipline is doing what is required to achieve what is desired; indiscipline, on the other hand, is the failure to do whatever is required in order to achieve whatever is desired.

iv) Lack of vision: Where there is no vision, there is no future. Your destiny or dignity is enhanced by your vision.

v) Pride: Pride resists your distinction. Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall (Proverbs 16:18). The absence of humility was responsible for the fall of Lucifer and Queen Vashti (Isaiah 14:12-14, Esther 1:19).

vi) Societal influence: To surrender to the influence of society is to sacrifice one’s future. A person who cannot have a mind of his own except the popular opinion of society can never amount to anything relevant in life.

Beloved, my significant counsel is, make up your mind to overcome these enemies of destiny in order to fulfil destiny.

ASSIGNMENTS:

1. Go through today’s message again.

2. Make up your mind to overcome the enemies of destiny in order to fulfill your destiny.

PRAYER: O Lord, I ask for the grace to overcome the enemies of destiny. Help me never to be a victim of iniquity, indecision, indiscipline, lack of vision, pride and societal influence, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

AMAZING FACT: In an effort to investigate the lie that the practicing of Christianity contributes to poor self-image, negative feelings, guilt, and therefore mental illness, a nursing instructor at Kishwaukee College and staff nurse at Rochelle Community Hospital found that the opposite is true, namely, that Christian belief and practice actually lead to better mental health.

QUOTE: The money that does not belong to you that you take; the woman that does not belong to you that you sin with, will hinder you from having access to what God planned for you on earth. Take it from me: taking what is not yours, forbids you from having what is yours.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD: Grace to overcome the enemies of destiny is released on you now, in Jesus’ Name.

Memorise: “When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.”- Luke 5:8

Read: Acts 13:1-5 (KJV)

1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

5 And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.

Bible in One Year: Numbers 23-35, Lamentation 4:17-5:22

Open Heaven 21 June 2019 Friday MESSAGE:

Over the years, I have always used every possible opportunity I get to remind my children that soul-winning is not an option for a Christian, it is a necessity. Although God has made provision for the salvation of mankind, the Holy Spirit declares in Romans 10:13-15 that sinners may not have access to salvation unless preachers are sent. This highlights the importance of answering the call to missions. The call of God refers to God summoning individuals or groups of people to Himself for the purpose of fellowship and service, both in this world and in eternity. A great example of this is the call of the disciples by the Master in Mark 3:14, which says:

“14 And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,”

The call of God may be tied to a specific place, task or vocation in life, and it might also be of a general nature. For example, God called Abraham, Moses and Jeremiah for specific purposes (Genesis 12:1-3, Exodus 3:4, Jeremiah 1:5), and after Christ’s successful ministry on earth, He called all His disciples to accomplish the general mission of reaching out to the whole world (Matthew 28:18-20). The primary mandate of the Church is to reach out to all the nations of the earth with the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, teaching and baptizing them in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. This is our Great Commission. Referring to our mandate, an author once wrote, “It was a Jew who brought the Gospel to Rome; a Roman who took it to France; a Frenchman who took it to Scandinavia; a Scotsman who evangelized Ireland; and an Irishman that in turn made the missionary conquest of Scotland. No people have ever received the Gospel except at the hand of an alien”.

It is critical to note that every member of the Church has an obligation to preach the gospel, because our Lord said in Mark 13:10:

“And the gospel must first be published among all nations.”

Soul winners are not born; they are made out of ordinary individuals who possess a yielded spirit, commitment to do God’s will, compassion for lost souls, and a deep sense of God’s calling. I pray that you will not disappoint God’s grace upon your life, and that you will become an incurable soul winner in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 21 June 2019 Friday Hymn 15: Must I Go, And Empty-Handed

1 “Must I go, and empty-handed,”
Thus my dear Redeemer meet?
Not one day of service give Him,
Lay no trophy at His feet?

Chorus:
“Must I go, and empty-handed?”
Must I meet my Savior so?
Not one soul with which to greet Him:
Must I empty-handed go?

2 Not at death I shrink nor falter,
For my Savior saves me now;
But to meet Him empty-handed,
Thought of that now clouds my brow.

3 O the years in sinning wasted;
Could I but recall them now,
I would give them to my Savior,
To His will I’d gladly bow.

4 O ye saints, arouse, be earnest,
Up and work while yet ’tis day;
Ere the night of death o’ertake thee,
Strive for souls while still you may.

Seeds of Destiny 20 June 2019 Devotional – Your Company And Your Destiny

I don’t know what is making you to live lower than your expected level, possibilities and potentials; I decree that you will not die until you fulfill God’s purpose for your life, in Jesus’ Name.

SCRIPTURE: He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” – Proverbs 13:20

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Your Company either limits or assists your destiny.

An American shepherd once told an interesting story: a cub (young lion) was found by a shepherd. The shepherd carried it and nurtured it among the sheepfold. The cub grew up and thought it was a sheep, so, it began to eat grass and move along with the sheep. Thus the cub became a de-lionized sheep or a sheepified lion. Once in a while, a big lion would come to the sheepfold to pursue the sheep. While the sheep would be running for their lives, the cub that grew in their midst (that is, the de-lionized sheep or the sheepified lion) would also run from the bigger lion. Then, one day, the cub saw its face in the water and discovered that it looked exactly like the bigger lion that always came to chase them away along with the sheep. So, when the bigger lion came on another occasion and began to pursue the sheep as usual, the cub (de-lionized sheep) refused to run from the bigger lion while all the sheep ran away. When the bigger lion played with the cub and discovered that it looked exactly like itself, it took the younger lion from the sheepfold into the company of other lions to be trained on how to roar and tear flesh.

You see, the cub was limited; it had great potentials but it was limited by a major factor – its company. It would have died as a sheep with the potentials of a lion. Your company either limits or assists your destiny.

Beloved, this is very critical! I don’t know what is making you to live lower than your expected level, possibilities and potentials; I decree that you will not die until you fulfill God’s purpose for your life, in Jesus’ Name. I decree that you are coming out from every low level of life; you are rising up to become who you are meant to be in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this: Your Company either limits or assists your destiny.

ASSIGNMENTS:

1. Disassociate yourself from every company that kills destiny.

2. Ask God to bring into your life the right company that would facilitate your destiny fulfilment.

PRAYER: O Lord, help me to identify the right company that would facilitate my destiny fulfilment. Deliver me from every wrong association, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

Memorise:Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?”- 1 John 5:5

Read: Revelation 12:9-11 (KJV)

9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Bible in One Year: Numbers 22, Lamentation 3:61-4:16

Open Heaven 20 June 2019 Thursday MESSAGE:

To conquer is to overcome and have dominion over a person, territory or kingdom. It therefore follows that a conqueror or overcomer is someone who has been able to defeat or overpower a person, territory or kingdom to the point of surrender. The word “conqueror” is also a military term which describes a person who has come out victorious from a war or conflict situation. Who then is our adversary? The answer is found in Ephesians 6:12, which says:

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Through this verse we understand that our greatest enemy is the devil and his kingdom. As mere mortals, it is absolutely impossible to consider overcoming the devil in any form of contest. However, we speak of being conquerors on the basis of God’s declaration concerning us in 1 John 4:4, which says that God in us is greater than everyone in the world. Furthermore, we have the confidence to confront our enemies because God’s Spirit assures us in Romans 8:31 that if God is for us, no one can successfully stand against us. Indeed, regardless of the challenges we face in life, we are more than conquerors through the love of Jesus (Romans 8:36-37). Obviously, Jesus is the ultimate conqueror and overcomer. He fought for us, and through His conquest, we are more than conquerors, having obtained victory over the devil without having to fight him.

The Bible records many examples of winners and conquerors, but the greatest of them all is our Lord Jesus Christ. He triumphed over the devil in two spectacular ways that are worthy of mention. Firstly, in Matthew 4:1-11, Jesus faced the devil in a most crucial contest of self-control, knowledge, wisdom and power, but He overcame, giving the devil a technical knockout through the power of God’s word. Secondly, the devil masterminded the unwarranted arrest, orchestrated the sham trial, and inspired the wicked execution of our Lord, not knowing that Christ would totally destroy him through His subsequent death and resurrection (Hebrews 2:14, 1 Corinthians 2:7). Colossians 2:15 says,

“And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”

When Jesus died, he went to hell, where He captured the devil and freed the captives. He paraded the devil and his cohorts in an open show of shame, confirming His supremacy over the kingdom of darkness. No matter how hopeless your situation may be or fierceness of the battle against you, I decree that your enemies will be disgraced and you will be victorious, in Jesus’ Name.
