Father who sexually assaulted his one month old daughter, granted bail
Father who allegedly defiled his one-month-old baby in Umuahia, Abia state was charged to court today and granted bail.
The 35-year-old father was granted bail by the Police after he was arrested for defiling his one-month-old daughter but was then re-arrested after public outcry and charged before a court who has now granted him bail.
According to Gwamnishu Harrison who helped make the story go viral, the mother of the child who was defiled has indicated interest in withdrawing the charges against her baby’s father. He shared on his social media page;

Two days ago, we reported that Nigeria Police, Divisional Police CPS Umuahia released a father who sexually abused his 1 month 3 weeks old baby.
Our report which went viral got to the attention of concerned Nigerians who reached out to Abia State Commissioner of Police. He quickly ordered for his re-arrest.
This morning he was charged to court and bail granted by the magistrate. Although the Police prosecutor did his best to counter the bail with strong reasons/evidence. #AskJudiciary

The wife told us she’s no longer ready to continue with the trial. She wants to withdraw the charges against her husband. We understand her feelings but we can’t help her situation.
While we arrest and keep paedophiles away, it’s important we reform our prison.
