ASUU STRIKE UPDATE: ASUU meets FG and Reaches Agreement, FG Releases N15.4bn For Salary Shortfalls

After Monday's evening meeting in abuja, addressing journalist the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said the majority of their demands have been met including the release of N15.4 billion for payment of salary shortfalls.

He said also that the Federal Government would be releasing another sum of 20bn for payment of earned allowances for university lecturers.

Whereas, professor biodun ogunyemi, the ASUU chairman said the National Executive Committee( NEC) of the union will review their decisions based on the new commitment by the government.

According to him, it is only after this meeting, whose date is yet ro be fixed that the union will announce its position on the ongoing strike action.

Its been over two months since the union went on strike following the alleged inability of the government to respond to its demands
